MERA001 - Meraki Authentication Failed

Agent error code #MERA001 indicates the Meraki Dashboard rejected the API key in the agent's Authorization: Bearer <key> header (HTTP 401).

This is distinct from authorization failures (#MERA002), where the key is valid but lacks access to the configured organization.

Common causes include:

  • The API key has a typo or trailing whitespace
  • The key was regenerated in the Meraki Dashboard and the Knocknoc backend was not updated
  • The key belongs to a deactivated Dashboard administrator

Steps to Resolve

  1. In the Meraki Dashboard, open your profile and confirm an API key is enabled
  2. Re-enter the Dashboard API key in the Knocknoc backend configuration and save
  3. If in doubt, regenerate the key in the Dashboard and update Knocknoc
