F5053 - Failed to Update the F5 Data-Group

Agent error code #F5053 indicates that the PATCH request to update the data-group's records failed. The agent could read the data-group but could not write the new record set.

Common causes include:

  • The service account's role can read but not modify the data-group in this partition (often surfaces first as #F5002)
  • A transient management-plane error on the BIG-IP
  • The device rejected the records payload

Steps to Resolve

Confirm Write Permission

  1. In the BIG-IP Configuration utility, confirm the service account's role can modify LTM data-groups in the configured partition (e.g. Manager on that partition)
  2. Confirm the account is not restricted to a partition that excludes the target

Retry

  1. Retry the operation; transient management-plane errors often clear on their own
  2. If it persists, check the BIG-IP logs for the rejected modification
