F5050 - Failed to Read the F5 Data-Group

Agent error code #F5050 indicates that the agent authenticated successfully but the GET request for the configured internal data-group failed for a reason other than the data-group simply not existing (which is reported as #F5051).

Common causes include:

  • A transient management-plane error on the BIG-IP
  • The response could not be parsed (also see #F5400)
  • An intermittent permission or partition issue reading the object

Steps to Resolve

Confirm the Data-Group Is Readable

  1. In the BIG-IP Configuration utility, go to Local Traffic > iRules > Data Group List and open the configured data-group
  2. Confirm it opens without error under the service account's role and partition

Retry and Check Device Health

  1. Retry the operation; transient management-plane errors often clear on their own
  2. If it persists, check the BIG-IP for control-plane health issues
