Specialized Agent

If you have not done so, read the Agent Installation page to learn about Knocknoc Orchestration Agents. This page will detail the Specialized Orchestration Agent, which operates the same way as the normal Agent except is designed for constrained environments.

What is the Specialized Agent

The Specialized Orchestration Agent is a light and portable version of the Knocknoc orchestreation Agent that is specifically designed to run on older hardware and operating systems, including HP-UX/RISC, Solaris/Sparc and others.

The agent orchestrates the local native firewall on these systems, it can also run custom-scripts (if enabled) and is designed to be intentionally light, performant with a small footprint. It does not manage external third-party firewalls (eg: Palo Alto), and is instead designed to manage the on-host firewall control layer only.

Where can the Specialized Agent Run?

Anywhere, in theory. The Agent is built specifically to minimize dependencies on the operating system, and to be hardware agnostic. We haven't yet found an environment we couldn't adapt it to.

That being said, the agent has compiled versions for HPUX 11.31 (PA-RISC) and Solaris 11.4 (Sparc T4), as well as all the more mainstream OS and hardware combinations.
