298000 - External Object Refresh Failed

Agent error code #298000 indicates that the agent failed to refresh an External Dynamic List (EDL) or dynamic external object on a firewall, for reasons that don't fall into more specific error categories.

This error typically occurs when:

  • The configured EDL or dynamic group doesn't exist on the firewall
  • The firewall returned an error response that doesn't match known patterns

 

Steps to Resolve

Check the Error Message

The agent logs include a description with more specific context (e.g., "SonicWall resource not found: ...", "SonicWall API error:"...", "An unexpected error occurred while refreshing the EDL: ...")

Verify the EDL/Object Exists on the Firewall

Confirm that the targeted EDL or external object does exist on the firewall as described. Eg. ensure the provided firewall serial number or firewall name is correct, etc.

Ensure the Firewall is Online and Operational

If you can't access the firewall through other means (eg. an admin portal), there is a chance that the firewall is not online.
